EastFX offers a wide range of physical, atmospheric and pyrotechnic effects that can help bring any production to life.

Smoke, mist and steam effects can be used to create a sense of atmosphere and mystery in a scene. For example, they can be used to simulate fog in a spooky forest or to build the illusion of steam coming from a boiling pot. Snow effects can be used to create a winter wonderland or to simulate a blizzard. Rain effects can be used to construct a sense of realism in outdoor scenes or to produce a dramatic effect during a pivotal moment in a film or TV show.

Pyrotechnics, on the other hand, are used to create energetic or fiery effects on screen. These can include eruptions, fireworks, or even simulated gunfire and explosions. Practical dynamic gags involve the use of carefully controlled reactive substances to create a realistic burst on set. Pyrotechnics can be used to craft a sense of danger or excitement in a scene. Our team ensures that these effects are executed safely and with the appropriate precautions, licenses and permits.

Mechanical effects involve the use of machinery and rigging to produce a visual on screen. These effects can be used to create a sense of realism or to simulate complex or dangerous situations for the audience. We have the experience and knowledge to use these effects sensibly and with the suitable safeguards to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.

Motion control rigs use sophisticated robotic systems to move cameras or props in a precise and controlled manner, allowing for complex camera movements or special effects shots.

The design process at EastFX involves close collaboration with the production team to understand their artistic concept and requirements for the physical effects. From there, the team creates sketches, storyboards, or even 3D models to help visualize the effect and ensure that it will meet the needs of the production.

Once the design is finalized, the fabrication process can begin. This may involve using a variety of materials and techniques to build the physical effect, such as welding, carpentry, sculpting, and painting. Our technicians may also use digital technologies such as 3D printing and computer-aided design to create precise and complex parts for the effect.

Throughout the fabrication process, we work closely with the production team to ensure that the effect is meeting their needs and that it will function properly on set. Once the fabrication is complete, our technicians can also assist with executing the effect on set, ensuring that it is safe and achieves the desired result.
